Please Don’t Jump (4-Track Tapes)
History
This recording was made by the band some time in late 2002 or early 2003 on a 4-Track tape recorder, and may have been one of the first tracks Dallon ever recorded vocals for with the band as “The Brobecks” along with Boring, Anyone I Know & Ollie.
This recording was never shared by the band, the song itself wouldn’t be heard by fans until 2005 when it was recorded for the album Happiest Nuclear Winter.
Due to this recording never having been released and primarily featuring the vocals & writing of Dallon Weekes we will not share any more than the lyrics provided here, unless explicit permission is given otherwise.
Lyrics
Mary Jane Livingston lays on the floor
She thinks of the letters that she hangs from her door
Each day a new one, unopened boxes again
[Dan’s?] late text back to her, it barely helps
The gears have all rusted the gates are locked shut
Each night he [???], [???]
And he starts to cry, Mary don’t you dare leave me alone
Want to talk you down but you don’t answer the phone
Please don’t jump
Mary don’t you dare leave me alone
Want to talk you down but you don’t answer the phone
Please don’t jump
[Danny boy?] gets up to rush to the phone
He gets no response now from Mary at home
So he hangs up, sits down [writing a note?]
But it’s useless, Mary don’t you dare, answer the phone
Want to talk you down but you don’t, get me alone
Please don’t jump
Mary don’t you dare, answer that phone
Want to talk you down but you don’t, get me alone
Please don’t you dare jump
